Samuel L. Jackson says he doesn’t do much in The Avengers: Age of Ultron

With CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER not hitting theaters for a few weeks, numerous theories have surfaced which may indicate the demise of Samuel L. Jackson‘s Nick Fury character. With two more movies left on his Marvel contract, it seems highly unlikely that the eyepatched superspy would be written out of the Marvel Universe so abruptly, but crazier things have happened. But, with Jackson seen on set filming THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, I would say those theories can be put to rest.

Still, with THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON cast ballooning, some characters will be seeing less screen time, one of which will be Fury himself. Jackson said as much to Yahoo UK.

“I’m not doing so much, I don’t think. It’s another one of those ‘people who have powers fighting people who have powers’ [movies],” he explained. “There’s not a lot I could do except shoot a gun.”

It remains to be seen if Fury will be getting a solo film with the remaining movies on Samuel L. Jackson‘s contract. While fans would love to see that, it may not be as sure a thing as having a legitimate super-powered hero in the forefront. But, if the early buzz on CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER holds true, maybe a Marvel movie with a gritty, retro feel still holds appeal for a mass audience.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER opens April 4, 2014 and THE AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON hits May 1, 2015.
