Last month, we learned that McG will be directing a “coming-of-age horror story” called THE BABYSITTER, working from a screenplay by Brian Duffield that
follows a young boy and his babysitter on a night where things go very wrong, with the boy learning a few lessons about life, love and murder along the way.
Casting is currently underway, and we now know who the stars of the film will be: Australian actress Samara Weaving has landed the role of the eponymous babysitter, while her 12-year-old charge will be played by Judah Lewis.
Weaving has primarily worked in Australian television to this point, including four years on the soap opera Home and Away. She has a major US TV appearance coming up soon, as she’ll be seen on the Starz series Ash vs. Evil Dead.
Lewis co-stars in the upcoming Jake Gyllenhaal dramedy DEMOLITION, plays a young Johnny Utah in the POINT BREAK remake, and was apparently one of the youngest actors in contention to play the new Spider-Man.
I have yet to see either of these actors in anything, but I will be seeing them in THE BABYSITTER for sure. This sounds like a very interesting project to me.
