Do you remember the absolute hysteria which followed the release of NAPOLEON DYNAMITE? That film just exploded as everyone and their Uncle Rico would bust out their best Napoleon Dynamite impressions at every opportunity. Neither of Jared Hess' follow-up films, NACHO LIBRE and GENTLEMEN BRONCOS, would manage to capture that same lightening in a bottle that NAPOLEAN DYNAMITE enjoyed, but Hess is back with with another tale of quirkiness and questionable fashion sense.
Check out the first trailer for DON VERDEAN below!
With Sam Rockwell, Jemaine Clement, Amy Ryan, Danny McBride, Will Forte, and Leslie Bibb on-board, I may just have to check this out. DON VERDEAN premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and our own Chris Bumbray was on hand to review the film and actually found himself enjoying it, saying that it was "quite charming" and had "some surprisingly interesting – if mild – things to say about religion and the culture of belief."
A synopsis for DON VERDEAN:
Hired by an ambitious small-town pastor to find sacred relics in the Holy Land, a self-proclaimed Biblical archaeologist comes up short and his attempt to cover up his failure fuels a comic conspiracy
DON VERDEAN will see a limited opening on December 11, 2015.
