Sam Raimi teases next directing project. Will it be horror?

Like many of you out there, one of my favorite horror movie directors is Sam Raimi. From THE EVIL DEAD, EVIL DEAD 2, and ARMY OF DARKNESS to DRAG ME TO HELL, Raimi is someone I always make room for when it comes to his directing efforts. So when does the man plan to return behind the camera? Well, Raimi was at NYCC last night promoting THE GRUDGE reboot he produced and spoke about his future plans, revealing:

I’d love to. I love directing. It’s hard though. It’s hard when you don’t have the best script to direct. I’m waiting to find a script that really speaks to me, something that everyone would love, but is really personal to me, too. Then I would be back in the director’s chair.

He then adds:

What’s next is I’m writing a movie with my brother Ivan, and I’m hoping to make that.

Writing with Ivan, you say, Sam? Well, that's a good sign to this here horror fan as the last time the two joined forces for a horror movie it turned out to be back in 2009 with the mini-masterpiece DRAG ME TO HELL starring Alison Lohman and Justin Long. That flick centered on

Christine Brown (Alison Lohman) who has a loving boyfriend (Justin Long) and a great job at a Los Angeles bank. But her heavenly life becomes hellish when, in an effort to impress her boss, she denies an old woman's request for an extension on her home loan. In retaliation, the crone places a curse on Christine, threatening her soul with eternal damnation. Christine seeks a psychic's help to break the curse, but the price to save her soul may be more than she can pay.

Raimi directed DRAG ME TO HELL from a screenplay he co-wrote along with his brother Ivan Raimi. Robert Tapert produced along with Grant Curtis and the film starred Alison Lohman, Justin Long, Lorna Raver, Dileep Rao, David Paymer, and Adriana Barraza. Universal Pictures unleashed the flick into theaters back on May 29, 2009. If you don't already own the film (yeah, right), you can snag a copy on Blu-ray over on Amazon RIGHT HERE.
