Sam Raimi’s Bermuda Triangle has sharks, Nazis, Vikings, Ryan Reynolds

It's been almost a year and a half since we heard that Sam Raimi was in talks to direct a mystery-thriller about the BERMUDA TRIANGLE for Skydance Productions. That was all the information that was available on the project at that time, and we haven't heard anything more until a new report from That Hashtag Show. According to their sources, Raimi's BERMUDA TRIANGLE is expected to go into production later this year, and it has already found its star: DEADPOOL himself, Ryan Reynolds.

Along with this news comes a plot synopsis:

When a massive submarine carry nuclear weapons goes missing in the Bermuda Triangle, Commander Vogel enlists the help of Dr. Fisk, a theoretical physicist, who while using his grandfather’s research opens a wormhole to reveal a mysterious island that is inhabited by anything lost in the triangle including Sharks, Vikings, and Nazis, in the hopes of finding the nuclear weapons.

Reynolds is believed to be playing Fisk, while the search is on for an actress to fill the role of Commander Vogel, "the first female commander of a nuclear submarine".

BERMUDA TRIANGLE is being produced by Don Granger, David Ellison, and Dan Goldberg. The initial script was written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, and the current draft was done by John Gatniss.

When I hear "mystery-thriller about the Bermuda Triangle", I just assume weird things are going to be happening to people while they float through the area on a boat. I never would have expected that simple line could describe a movie in which Ryan Reynolds takes on sharks, Vikings, and Nazis… This project is much cooler than I was expecting it to be. I was always on board if Raimi was, but now this sounds like something to get hyped about.

BERMUDA TRIANGLE is supposed to begin filming in September.
