Sally Hawkins nabs final lead role in Legendary’s Godzilla

Legendary’s now-filming GODZILLA reboot, helmed by MONSTERS director Gareth Edwards, has just cast its final lead performer in Sally Hawkins, according to Deadline.

Hawkins joins the previously announced Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Johnson, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe and Richard T. Jones in the flick which is working from a script by Max Borenstein, Frank Darabont and Dave Callaham.

Warner Bros. has successfully kept plot details under wraps on the massive remake (although, as Eric pointed out, we can probably guess that a giant lizard creates havoc while the military attempts to stop him).

GODZILLA is set to stomp into theaters May 16, 2014.
