Shane West has most recently been out on the horror scene as John Alden in WGN's Salem, the third season of which will air this October. However, he'll soon be branching out in Jonathan Wright's Z, a serial killer thriller in which he'll be starring opposite Leslie Bibb.
West has made a solid career on TV, hopping from Once and Again to ER to Nikita, but he has previously cropped up in the genre as JT in the Wes Craven produced DRACULA 2000 and in one episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He also starred in the Nicholas Sparks romance A WALK TO REMEMBER, but I'm not sure he wants us to remember that one.
It might sound like a Zorro movie, but it's far from it. Here's the story of Z:
The story follow a down-on-their-luck couple young who discover a serial killer’s film reels. They decide to take the law into their own hands, risking everything for the chance at a $100,000 reward. It isn’t long until they find themselves in the killer’s lethal cross-hairs.
West plays blue-collar husband Mick Branson, who can’t seem to get ahead in life. Stressed, broke and with very little chance of escaping a lifetime of poverty, he’s willing to do just about anything for his true love, even if it puts his life in jeopardy.
Z will begin production in Ottawa, Canada in May.
