Salem’s Lot: William Sadler cast in Stephen King adaptation

Production is now underway on New Line Cinema’s adaptation of the Stephen King novel Salem’s Lot (buy a copy HERE), a story that has already been brought to the screen twice before, both times as a mini-series. This time around it’s a feature, and now that cameras are rolling the name of another cast member has been announced. In fact, this cast member took to social media to announce their involvement on their own: it’s the legendary William Sadler!

Sadler has nearly 200 screen acting credits to his name, but he’s probably best known for playing the villain in Die Hard 2 and for playing Death / the Grim Reaper in Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (a role he reprised in Bill & Ted Face the Music). It’s not known who he’ll be playing in Salem’s Lot. He is no stranger to King adaptations; he was also in The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Mist.

This version of Salem’s Lot is being written and directed by Gary Dauberman, who previously co-wrote the Stephen King adaptations It and It: Chapter Two for New Line. The story centers on

author Ben Mears, who returns to his childhood home of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book only to discover his hometown is being preyed upon by a bloodthirsty vampire.

Sadler’s co-stars include Lewis Pullman as Ben Mears; Makenzie Leigh as Ben’s love interest Susan Norton; Spencer Treat Clark as Mike Ryerson, “one of the town’s simple folk”; Bill Camp as Matthew Burke, “a former high school English teacher who knows about the Marsten House’s evil past and helps out Ben”; and Alfre Woodard as Dr. Cody.

In addition to the It movies, Dauberman has also written four entries in the Conjuring Universe for New Line: AnnabelleAnnabelle: Creation, Annabelle Comes Home, and The Nun
