For those living on another planet, Kanye West has been siding with Hitler and the Nazis, in addition to making comments about Jewish people that were not niiiiice. As a result of his words, actions and posts, West has lost endorsements, banished from Twitter and, most unexpectedly, been made fun of by none other than Borat Sagdiyev.
At this past weekend’s Kennedy Center Honors, Sacha Baron Cohen revived Kazakhstani journalist Borat in order to take on Kanye West. In character, he said, “I will say I am very upset about the antisemitism in US and A. It not fair. Kazakhstan is No 1 Jew-crushing nation. Stop stealing our hobby. Stop the steal! Stop the steal!”…Your Kanye, he tried to move to Kazakhstan and even changed his name to Kazakhstanye West. But we said: No, he too antisemitic, even for us.”
That Kanye West’s antisemetic remarks went too far even for the antisemetic Borat should say something. It may also be worth noting that Sacha Baron Cohen is Jewish.
Borat was notably last seen in 2020’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, a sequel to 2006’s Borat! Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, a title that makes far more sense than any of the hateful garbage Kanye West has been spewing.
Variety also reported that in an Instagram post, Natalie Portman also condemned actions and thoughts similar to those made by West. “This hatred must be combatted with boundless love for each other. Today, I send extra love to my fellow Jews. And I send love to all those standing with us against these violent words and actions. It’s been painful and frightening to listen to, and I’m extremely grateful to those who continue to speak up against antisemitism with us, and against all forms of racism.”
Honorees for “lifetime artistic achievement” at the event included George Clooney, Irish rock band U2 and singer Gladys Knight.
Where do you think Kanye West’s career goes from here?
