In my mind, Ryan Reynolds is a much bigger star than he really is, so it's been incredibly gratifying to witness DEADPOOL's enormous success, especially as the film as long been a passion project for Reynolds. DEADPOOL will hopefully send the actor's star rising a little higher and his next project will see him reunite with DEADPOOL screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.
Deadline reports that Ryan Reynolds is currently in talks to join Rebecca Ferguson (MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION) in LIFE from director Daniel Espinosa (CHILD 44). This isn't exactly a result of DEADPOOL's success, as Ryan Reynolds was already in talks to join LIFE before DEADPOOL exploded, but DEADPOOL's win with both audiences and critics alike will likely give LIFE a boost. The upcoming film follows "the crew of the International Space Station, who, after retrieving a sample from Mars, discover that it displays signs of life, and proves to be more intelligent than expected." Sounds like a good time to me.
In addition to the DEADPOOL sequel, Ryan Reynolds will be making an appearance in the upcoming CRIMINAL starring Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, and Tommy Lee Jones, which is due to be released on April 15, 2016. Meanwhile, Rebecca Ferguson will be appearing in THE GIRL ON THE TRAIN opposite Emily Blunt, THE SNOWMAN opposite Michael Fassbender, and is said to be reprising her role of Ilsa Faust in MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6.
