Josh Brolin Cable Deadpool 2 Ryan Reynolds

After plenty of speculation and names dropped over the past year, it was finally made official earlier today when it was announced that Josh Brolin (AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR) would be playing Cable in DEADPOOL 2. Although I was really rooting for Michael Shannon to walk away with the role, I'm more than pleased by the casting of Brolin. Once the announcement dropped, Ryan Reynolds took to Twitter to respond to the news in typical Deadpool fashion.

Sources are saying that Josh Brolin's deal is for four movies, which could point to anything from another DEADPOOL sequel, X-FORCE or even a standalone Cable movie. It's certainly exciting times and I'm sure most of us are already anxiously awaiting the first look at Josh Brolin in costume. Production on DEADPOOL 2 is expected to get underway in June under the direction of David Leitch (JOHN WICK) and will of course star Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool as well as Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) as Domino.

Josh Brolin is certainly one busy dude, in addition to the DEADPOOL sequel, he's also set to appear in Joseph Kosinski's fire-fighting drama GRANITE MOUNTAIN on September 22, 2017, George Clooney’s crime-comedy SUBURBICON on November 3, 2017 and Jody Hill's comedy THE LEGACY OF A WHITETAIL DEER HUNTER on December 25, 2017. He's also reprised his role of Matt Graver for Stefano Sollima's SOLDADO, a sequel to Denis Villeneuve's SICARIO, which also sees Benicio del Toro returning as well. I feel like I'm missing something, oh yes, he'll also set to kick some Avengers ass as Thanos in AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR on May 4, 2018.

DEADPOOL 2 is set for a 2018 release.
