According to THR, Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski are set to team up for a fantasy comedy by the name of IMAGINARY FRIENDS. The project has been the subject of a heated bidding war between Lionsgate, Sony, Paramount, and other studios, but it was Paramount who emerged as the victor and negotiations are now underway.
Should everything go as planned, John Krasinski will write, direct, and produce IMAGINARY FRIENDS in addition to starring alongside Ryan Reynolds. The story deals with a man who can see and talk to people's imaginary friends and befriends those who have been forgotten or discarded. However, some imaginary friends turn to the dark side when they're lacking love and friendship, and it's up to Ryan Reynolds' character to save the world from those that become evil. Certainly sounds like something right up Reynolds' alley.
Both John Krasinski and Ryan Reynolds have quite a few projects over the horizon, with Krasinski currently in post-production on A QUIET PLACE: PART II, which is slated to hit theaters on May 20, 2020, as well as taking on the leading role in the second season of Amazon's Jack Ryan series which will debut on November 1, 2019. The streaming service ordered a third season of the series earlier this year. As for Ryan Reynolds, the actor will next be seen in Michael Bay's 6 UNDERGROUND which hits Netflix on December 13, 2019, as well as THE HITMAN'S BODYGUARD'S WIFE and FREE GUY, both slated to hit theaters next year. Reynolds also has a big-screen adaptation of the Hasbro board-game CLUE in the works with Jason Bateman, heist-thriller RED NOTICE with Dwayne Johnson, and a musical take on A CHRISTMAS CAROL with Will Ferrell. That is one busy dude.
