Production on DEADPOOL may have finally begun, but its battles aren't over yet. Ryan Reynolds has been most vocal regarding his desire to see DEADPOOL gain the R rating many fans feel it deserves and apparently the actor, who is currently in Vancouver shooting the film, is still fighting to secure that rating.
The film's budget, which is said to be much lower than its superhero brethren, could give director Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds a bit of freedom when it comes to fighting for the rating they want. That said, I feel as though the likely end-game will result in a PG-13 version hitting theaters while the Blu-ray release will feature an unrated cut. Depending on how much they play up Deadpool's self-awareness, I could also see them poking fun at what they can't depict by actively censoring Deadpool's language and violent acts. In any case, the battle isn't over yet
There's still more casting news to be had as THR is reporting that Brianna Hildebrand has joined the cast of DEADPOOL in the role of Negasonic Teenage Warhead; that's a mouthful. The character, who originated during Grant Morrison's run on New X-Men, has telepathic and precognitive abilities. Hildebrand is said to be undergoing physical and stunt training for her part so we can assume she'll be kicking ass as well as reading minds.
Ryan Reynolds also hit the gym with a young fan recently and showed off his Deadpool physique in the process:
DEADPOOL is set to open on February 12, 2016.
