Ryan Murphy: New season of American Horror Story starts filming in October

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The tenth season of the FX anthology series American Horror Story was heading quickly toward production earlier this year. Casting announcements were being made and co-creator Ryan Murphy was dropping hints at what the season's theme would be. Then the pandemic lockdown hit, the season's premiere date was pushed out of 2020 and into 2021, and Murphy began to wonder if he would be able to make the season he had been planning and writers had been crafting scripts for. As he said, the theme of the season made it a "weather dependent show".

Well, now Murphy knows when the season will probably be able to start filming, and so far there's no indication that he had to change the theme. He took to his Instagram account to say that it looks like American Horror Story season 10 will go into production in October. That's the month when five of the previous seasons started airing. The other four started airing in September.

There's no word on exactly when in 2021 FX plans to start airing season 10.

The cast of season 10 includes Macaulay Culkin, Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock.

Murphy has said that Culkin will be playing an "insane part" that involves having "crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates".
