Ryan Coogler breaks down Black Panther’s casino fight scene

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

After many months of growing anticipation, BLACK PANTHER finally hit theaters last week, and for the most part, it seems to have lived up to the hype and then some. One of the many stand-out scenes in the Marvel flick was an action sequence in a casino in South Korea, which breaks out as T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), and Okoye (Danai Gurira) are observing a meeting between Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis) and Everett K. Ross (Martin Freeman). In the latest installment of Vanity Fair's Notes on a Scene, BLACK PANTHER director and co-writer Ryan Coogler broke down the casino fight sequence. Coogler offers up a variety of intriguing tidbits, which range from how they were able to achieve certain shots, to the particular fighting styles of the characters, and even down to the importance of the colours of the costumes.

Check out the video below, it's well worth a watch.

The official synopsis for BLACK PANTHER:
