Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One has been released to rave reviews and audience praise. One thing the series has been able to tout since the very beginning is the fact that even though it’s Tom Cruise’s show, he is always surrounded by an impressive cast that gets a chance to shine in their own way. In this latest installment, a scene stealer comes in the form of Pom Klementieff, best known for her appearances as Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers movies. In Dead Reckoning, Klementieff gets to be involved in the action a lot more as she pursues Ethan Hunt and Grace with the mysterious but dangerous assassin character, Paris.
Klementieff’s former Avengers directors, Joe and Anthony Russo, run a charity fantasy football league called AGBO Superhero League, which is named after their production company. The league consists of many Avenger actors, including Klementieff, Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen, Chris Pratt, etc., and the AGBO TikTok has commemorated the release of Dead Reckoning by posting a music video Klementieff had once made to trash-talk her opponent for the week, Chris Hemsworth.
Klementieff made this video whilst filming Mission: Impossible while in Rome, and the capper at the end is she presented to Hemsworth some of her new friends which included Tom Cruise, Rebecca Ferguson, and Simon Pegg. According to the credits, Pegg wrote the song with Klementieff, which takes the tune of “Laisse Tomber Les Filles” by Serge Gainsberg and is reworked to feature jabs at Hemsworth and Anthony Mackie. A small blooper at the end also alludes that Pegg shot the video for Klementieff as well.
Their TikTok post featured text that read,
“in honor of #MissionImpossible release day… throwback to Pom Klementieff’s epic trash talk video from the #AGBOLeague Fantasy Football days??️?️?? #pomklementieff #tomcruise #chrishemsworth“
The video itself featured text that read,
“Reminding everyone that Pom Klementieff got the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE cast to be in her fantasy football trash talk video roasting Chris Hemsworth while they were filming the movie.”
Movie fans may also recognize the tune as the original song was adapted into the English-language song “Chick Habit” by April March, which was used in Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof.
