I like Noomi Rapace, though I'm not sure that she's ever had a real breakout role in the US. SHERLOCK HOLMES: A GAME OF SHADOWS was fun, but disposable, and PROMETHEUS was just (in my opinion) the worst thing to happen to the ALIEN franchise – and yes, I'm including ALIEN VS PREDATOR: REQUIEM and the ALIEN: COLONIAL MARINES game in that list. However, regardless of your opinion on those films, in both cases, none of their problems were her fault.
Now, I'm not sure RUPTURE will be a breakout role for her either, but I'm intrigued by the film not just for Rapace, but because of director Steven Shainberg. I loved SECRETARY (which was actually a touching, nuanced take on BDSM relationships), and am excited to see how he'll handle horror. It's even weirder to know that he hasn't made a film in ten years. Let's see what he and Rapace have cooked up:
Well, that was suitably creepy. I'm not quite sure what to make of it though. It's just a lot of scary and psychosexual imagery, without much plot to go on. But, you know what? That might actually be a good thing. With trailers giving away too damn much, maybe it's nice to be inticed by imagery and tone, and be surprised at what you see. I'm honestly intrigued by the fact it's directed by the SECRETARY guy, so I'll definitely check it out at some point regardless.
RUPTURE will be released in theaters November 4th, 2016.
So what do you guys think? And what would be your greatest fear?
