After a two year delay that was caused by the pandemic, the Blumhouse horror thriller Run Sweetheart Run is finally making its way out into the world through the Amazon Prime Video service on October 28th. In anticipation of the film’s long-awaited release, our own JimmyO was able to sit down for an interview with stars Ella Balinska (Netflix’s Resident Evil series) and Pilou Asbaek (Ghost in the Shell), who discussed preparation, connection with their co stars, breaking the fourth wall, and more. He also talked with writer/director Shana Feste, who shared how a creepy date inspired her to make this film, and producer Effie T. Brown, who dug into how she connected with this concept. To hear it all, check out the video embedded above!
Described as a “feminist horror/thriller”, Run Sweetheart Run shows what happens when a blind date turns violent and the woman has to get home on foot through Los Angeles as she’s pursued by her date. Keith Josef Adkins and Kellee Terrell also have writing credits on the movie. Here’s another synopsis:
After what begins as dinner with a client, a single mom (Ella Balinska) finds herself hunted by a monstrous and seemingly unstoppable assailant (Pilou Asbæk) in this terrifying dark thriller.
Balinska and Asbaek are joined in the cast by Aml Ameen (I May Destroy You), Dayo Okeniyi (Fresh), Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad), Shohreh Aghdashloo (The Expanse), and Clark Gregg (The Avengers).
Feste produced Run Sweetheart Run for Quiet Girl Productions, alongside Effie T. Brown, Blumhouse’s Jason Blum and Automatik’s Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. Jennifer Besser, Couper Samuelson, Bea Sequeira, and Jeanette Volturno serve as executive producers.
