If you think Sarah Paulson's portrayal of Nurse Mildred Ratched for Netflix's Ratched series was intense just wait until you see how terrifying her motherly instincts are in the upcoming Hulu Original Film RUN. Directed by Aneesh Chaganty who also wrote the script with Sev Ohanian, RUN looks as if it could strike a real chord with those who grew up around overly-protective parents, which is something I know a little bit about.
The trailer starts off innocently enough, with Paulson's Diane giving the impression that she's simply looking out for her disabled daughter, Chloe. However, when Chloe starts asking questions about her care, her sense of safety is turned on its head as her mother's ideas of protection spin out of control.
Here's the official synopsis, per Hulu:
They say you can never escape a mother’s love… but for Chloe, that’s not a comfort — it’s a threat. There’s something unnatural, even sinister about the relationship between Chloe (newcomer Kiera Allen) and her mom, Diane (Sarah Paulson). Diane has raised her daughter in total isolation, controlling every move she’s made since birth, and there are secrets that Chloe's only beginning to grasp. From the visionary writers, producers, and director of the breakout film SEARCHING, comes a suspense thriller that shows that when mom gets a little too close, you need to RUN.
Joining Paulson and Allen for RUN are Onalee Ames, Pat Healy, Clark Webster, Conan Hodgkinson, Erik Athavale, and Bradley Sawatzky.
Produced by Natalie Qasabian, p.g.a. and Sev Ohanian, p.g.a., RUN will stride onto Hulu this November 20th.
