Now that Daniel Craig has officially said he’s returning to the role of James Bond for BOND 25, we can focus on what the British spy will actually be doing this time around. Will he be assaulting an underwater base? Will he be teaming up with his long-lost son – Dave Bond? Or will he just settle down and raise show horses? Well, if a new rumor is to be believed the new BOND will supposedly find the icon doing some classic, Liam Neeson-style avenging of a loved one.
Page Six has apparently gotten word from an unnamed source regarding the story of BOND 25, with the source saying it's akin to “TAKEN with Bond.” The movie starts out with the hero in domestic bliss, having retired from the spy game and married to his love interest from SPECTRE – Dr. Madeleine Swann played by Léa Seydoux. However, she is soon murdered, leading Bond to get back into the tux and on a quest for vengeance.
This should be treated as a rumor, of course, and chances are the script is still being worked on. If true this wouldn’t be the first time Bond has fallen in love to the point where he decides to give up the secret agent life. The final part of CASINO ROYALE shows Bond traveling with Vesper Lynd (Eva Green), having quit MI6. But then her true nature is unveiled, and the climax ends with her death. The character also marries in ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE (starring George Lazenby, with Diana Rigg playing the love interest), but she is murdered by Blofeld.
Given the fact that Blofeld is the villain of SPECTRE (played by Christoph Waltz), it would make sense for them to follow a similar plot structure resulting in the death of Bond’s lady love. If this is indeed the story the writers and everyone else involved will really have to think outside the box in order to make it feel like a unique BOND adventure and not some generic action flick. I have no problem with Craig channeling Neeson when he throws a punch, but there has to be at least some elegant party scene or a poker game to vary it up a bit.
BOND 25 could begin soon for a 2018 or 2019 release!
