Rumor: What to expect in the new Star Wars trailer

Yesterday we heard that we may be seeing a new trailer and poster for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS next week. It certainly makes sense, given that STAR WARS Celebration 2015 will be running in Anaheim, California from the 16th through the 19th. Now word has broke on exactly what to expect from the latest FORCE AWAKENS trailer. This news comes from MakingStarWars.net, and for what it's worth, they also correctly broke down what was going to be in the teaser. Suffice it to say that if you'd rather not risk spoiling things for yourself, look away!

Still with me? Alright then! I've reported a few rumors over the past couple of months from MakingStarWars.net and some of it does seem to sync up with things we may see in the upcoming trailer. That is, if all of this information is legit. This breakdown isn't in chronological order, but here's what they've reported we'll see in 1 minute 50 second trailer.

  • Han, Leia, Artoo and Threepio.
  • A crashed Star Destroyer on the sand planet.
  • We do see Yavin in the teaser.
  • We see a shot of Finn (John Boyega) with a blue lightsaber.
  • There is a shot of Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), the chrome Stormtrooper, very briefly.
  • We do see Kylo Ren’s helmeted face.
  • We see Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) shoot down a TIE fighter.
  • A shot of Finn and Poe walking past one another at the base.
  • Rey (Daisy Ridley) is in a few shots, looking at TIEs overhead.
  • There is a shot of Poe Dameron, Artoo-Detoo, See-Threepio, and a CGI character (Rose).
  • BB-8 socketed in the back of an X-wing.
  • Kylo Ren’s Imperial shuttle flies by with TIE escorts to the Star Destroyer.
  • Star Destroyer(s).
  • The Millennium Falcon.
  • X-wing fighters flying in a V-shape formation.
  • Darth Vader’s (burned Endor) helmet sitting on a podium.

Note that there is no mention of Mark Hamill, so we probably shouldn't expect to see him in this trailer. Frankly, they could not reveal one more bit of footage and fans would still flock to theaters, but just reading about these has me REALLY excited. I've seen THE FORCE AWAKENS teaser more times than I can count, and the idea that we're going another Star Wars movie is still surreal for me. Thankfully, there's plenty of other great-looking films coming out between now and then, but the prospect of a Star Wars film done right is too tantalizing. You know audiences are going to be vocal about this trailer screening in front of AGE OF ULTRON, and I can't wait to be in a theater seat when that happens!

STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS will be released on December 18, 2015.
