There have been a lot of questions raised over the past few months over how the new Spider-Man will indeed function now that he’s a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What does he look like? What suit will he wear? How involved will he be? And so on and so on…
Plenty of guessing has even gone into whether or not Peter Parker might find himself inside the Iron Spider outfit fairly soon – as soon as CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR – given that he does so in the CIVIL WAR books, sporting new duds made for him by Tony Stark.
But a new rumor suggests that you won’t be seeing any Iron Spider in Marvel’s next film… however, Tony Stark may have a different gift to bestow upon our friendly neighborhood web-slinger.
It’ll be Tony Stark who builds Spider-man’s web shooters, as upon introduction, Peter Parker will be a “hero using only things a teenager has access to” for his suit. But Stark will help him upgrade along the way, turning him into the more legitimate superhero we know Spidey is.
It’s a deviation from the comics for sure, so I’m fully prepared for some to crank up the rage machine momentarily, but honestly, is it really that big of a deal how Parker reaches full Spider-Man mode as long as he gets there in a way that makes sense within the greater context of the MCU? I didn’t think so. Purity needs to take a backseat sometimes; this being one of them.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR is prepared to rock theaters on May 6, 2016.
