Rumor: Kathryn Bigelow on directors shortlist for Tomb Raider reboot

UPDATE: Peter Sciretta over at /Film heard from Kathryn Bigelow's reps who told him that "Kathryn has not met with anyone about this project, and does not have any interest in directing this film.

Lara Croft's return was fast-tracked earlier this year and word was that the studio was looking for "a Michelle MacLaren type" to helm the reboot. Now The Tracking Board is reporting on a rumour that Warner Bros. have narrowed down their list of potential directors to Kathryn Bigelow (ZERO DARK THIRTY), Catherine Hardwicke (TWILIGHT), and Mimi Leder (DEEP IMPACT).

The Walking Dead's Tricia Brock was previously attached to the film but TB's sources tell them that she has officially passed on the project which has left the door open for someone else to steer the TOMB RAIDER reboot. Evan Daugherty (TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES) has already penned the screenplay for the film which will follow a young Lara Croft on her first archaeological expedition. Kathryn Bigelow Catherine Hardwicke, and Mimi Leder were also included on Warner Bros. shortlist for WONDER WOMAN which ended up in the the hands of Patty Jenkins after Michelle MacLaren exited due to "creative differences".

Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics' sequel to their 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider, will be released on November 10, 2015 for both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Should this rumour pan out, who would be the best fit for the TOMB RAIDER reboot?
