As production on the Patty Jenkins-directed WONDER WOMAN sequel nears its Summer start date, rumors of who will join the cast of the highly-anticipated comic book action follow-up are officially beginning to make the rounds.
Today, That Hashtag Show is reporting that Oscar winner Emma Stone was recently offered the role of Cheetah for WONDER WOMAN 2. Shortly after word hit the net, Umberto Gonzalez of The Wrap vouched for the speculative comment, though he insisted that he could not confirm if the role was indeed for Cheetah.
Created in 1987 by Len Wein and George Perez, Barbara Minerva was cursed with the powers of a cheetah after a failed ritual, and has since vowed to defeat Diana as a matter of pride. In the past, Cheetah has been known to fight both for and against Diana. The two have a complicated friendship to say the least.
Last December, it was rumored that Sarah Paulson would sharpen her claws for the role of Barbara Ann Minerva aka Cheetah, though that ship appears to have sailed in recent times.
What are your thoughts on Emma Stone seemingly turning down the role? Is the DCEU so directionless that stars are now hesitant to jump on board? If Marvel asked her to portray Jane Foster's Mighty Thor after AVENGERS 4 concludes, do you think she'd say yes? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
WONDER WOMAN 2 starring Gal Gadot is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 1, 2019.
