Rumor: Emily Blunt is up for a role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Emily Blunt showed her badass side in Rian Johnson‘s LOOPER but this weekend’s EDGE OF TOMORROW looks to cement her as a talented actress who can also hold her own in an action movie. And, if rumors pan out, she may be once again poised for a role in a superhero movie.

Blunt was once in the running for both the roles of Black Widow in IRON MAN 2 and Peggy Carter in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER, roles then eventually went to Scarlett Johansson and Hayley Atwell, respectively. Now, Blunt may be segueing over to the DC side for a role in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. El Multicine shared the following tidbit in a recent article on Blunt. The following comes via translation on Comic Book Movie.

“The actress Emily Blunt will land on billboards worldwide with her film EDGE OF TOMORROW, in what appears to be a great science fiction role. Now her name returns to the orbit of comic adaptations with her possible incorporation in BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, directed by Zack Snyder. A film that has been shooting since last month.”

There is no supporting evidence to Emily Blunt being involved in any way with BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. But, this is still a very intriguing rumor. I have no idea who she could play in the movie, but it also depends on how wide Zack Snyder is casting the film in preparation for the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie. Could Blunt be playing a Batman villain like Catwoman or Poison Ivy? Or is she Vickie Vale? The possibilities are endless, but whatever the case, if BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE adds Emily Blunt to the mix, I am instantly more intrigued.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
