Rumor: Daredevil, Jessica Jones & The Punisher could return but with a twist

Take this one with a grain of salt guys. There could be some credibility to this rumor because it does sound plausible within the MCU but NONE of this is confirmed as of yet and is merely speculation, via The Hashtag Show. All of the rights to the Netflix Marvel shows such as Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Punisher have all reverted back to Marvel Studios and fans have been wondering if we will see them again in the MCU. There is a new rumor floating around that we will indeed see them again but there will be a huge catch that may or may not sit well with fans.

The rumor suggests that the likes of Charlie Cox's Daredevil, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, and Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle aka Punisher will return with the fan-favorite actors reprising their roles BUT they will not be playing the same versions of the characters as seen on the Netflix series. They will instead be portraying rebooted versions of the same roles when they are newly introduced into the MCU.

According to the rumor, Marvel Studios are interested in bringing back the aforementioned trio into the MCU fold, as well as Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, but fellow Netflix characters Luke Cage and Iron Fist will likely be recast. Mike Colter, who portrayed Luke Cage, is currently on the CBS series Evil, so that would make sense that he could possibly not be available. As for Finn Jones as Iron Fist, he didn't exactly win over fans during his run as the character.

The biggest takeaway from this rumor is that rebooting the characters but with the same actors would make the Netflix series non-canon. Marvel boss Kevin Feige had very little to no involvement in many of the television projects that were developed before it was decided to cancel out the Marvel Television division and have all the Marvel shows and movies be under the same umbrella at Marvel Studios. Even though he wasn't associated with the shows, Feige is still very much aware of their popularity and the popularity of the actors who brought them to life. It could be silly to nix the established backstories, particularly since they were so well-received on Netflix, but maybe they feel like they need to cut that cord and just start fresh while trying to keep the fanbase by keeping the actors.

The rumor indicates that each character's return will be spread across Phases 4 and 5 of the MCU. The idea is for Charlie Cox to make his return in the upcoming Marvel sequel, Spider-Man: No Way Home, a rumor that hasn't lost steam since it was picked up last year. There was even speculation that he was spotted on set. None of this was ever confirmed and Cox has insisted he hasn't heard anything but this is Marvel and we know that Marvel makes a lot of their actors just outright lie to keep their secrets.

In the case of Krysten Ritter and Jon Bernthal, they are rumored to appear in one of the many upcoming Disney+ series that Marvel has on deck. Jessica Jones could return on She-Hulk in order to assist Jennifer Walters on a big case and Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin, allegedly, could play a pivotal role on the recently announced Hawkeye spinoff series Echo, starring Alaqua Cox. This could also be teased with a cameo from D'Onofrio on the upcoming Hawkeye series.

Again folks, these are rumors. We can't take them as fact just yet but Kevin Feige has suggested in the past that these actors could return as their respective Netflix characters. Feige has frequently said "Everything is on board" and he elaborated by saying "That's one of the fun things about comics is that characters would appear and disappear and come and go. All of it is inspiration for the future. There are some great characters and actors from those shows."

Do YOU think there is any truth to these rumors? Would YOU want these actors to return as rebooted versions of their characters?
