Model/DJ/actress Ruby Rose's career is on the rise following her breakthrough role on the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black. She'll soon be seen in the high profile films RESIDENT EVIL: THE FINAL CHAPTER, xXx: RETURN OF XANDER CAGE, and JOHN WICK: CHAPTER TWO, and now you can add another one to that list, as she has signed on to co-star in the giant shark thriller MEG.
Rose joins a cast that includes Jason Statham, Fan Bingbing, and Jessica McNamee, whose casting was just announced earlier this week.
Directed by Jon Turteltaub and based on the 1997 novel by Steve Alten, MEG will center on
an international underwater observation program, led by Chinese scientists, which comes under attack by an unknown danger. With its deep-sea submersible disabled and trapped at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, they need rescue. A former naval captain and expert deep-sea diver is recruited for a likely suicide mission — even though he faced the predator years before and was forced him to abort his mission and abandon half his crew.
Statham will be playing the heroic diver. Rose's character is Jaxx, "a kick-ass engineering genius and member of the marine research team."
A co-production of Warner Bros. and China-based Gravity Pictures, MEG is scheduled for a March 2, 2018 release.
