Now that Ron Howard (SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY) has completed production on HILLBILLY ELEGY for Netflix, it seems that the director has set his sights on his next project as he's set to direct THE FIXER for Paramount Pictures.

According to Variety, THE FIXER is based on an original pitch by Tyler Hisel (Treadstone), and tells the "incredible true story of a disgraced FBI agent, who, at the height of the Cold War is tapped by the CIA to lead a ragtag team of CIA operatives and Chicago mobsters on an unlikely mission to try to assassinate Fidel Castro." Hisel also wrote the script and THE FIXER is said to be a top priority for Paramount Pictures. There were numerous attempts at assassinating Fidel Castro during his time as the President of Cuba, but, obviously, none were successful.

As I mentioned above, Ron Howard recently finished production on HILLBILLY ELEGY for Netflix, an adaptation of J.D. Vance's memoir of the same name which explores the American Dream through three generations of an Appalachian family. The film stars Amay Adams, Glenn Close, Haley Bennett, Freida Pinto, and Gabriel Basso. Howard recently spoke with Collider about the film "It’s a story of transformation and while it focuses on that culture, a group of people that I really really relate to given my own family background and history, and my wife’s as well," Howard said. "It really is about being your best self, finding strength in your heritage, and the lessons that you learn, but also recognizing the hurdles that some of that might represent as well, and learning how to grow beyond it. It’s a self-actualization story. It’s powerful." HILLBILLY ELEGY is expected to debut on Netflix later this year.
