If you were wondering what Ron Howard has been up to, while simultaneously craving a new documentary about The Beatles . . . prepare to meet catharsis. It seems this latest doc will cover the touring years of the fearsome foursome, from their tour in Europe in '63 to their last performance at Candlestick Park, San Francisco, in 1966.
Ron Howard had this to say:
I am excited and honored to be working with Apple and the White Horse team on this astounding story of these four young men who stormed the world in 1964. Their impact on popular culture and the human experience cannot be exaggerated.
Frankly, given what a talented filmmaker Ron Howard is and how many Beatles documentaries are out there, I'd much rather see a biopic (a la RUSH) then a documentary directed by the man. I'm sure he'll cobble together something entertaining, though. Perhaps he's just biding his time until his next film about a stranded whaling crew, HEART OF THE SEA, hits theaters.
Howard's next, HEART OF THE SEA, starring Chris Hemsworth, Michelle Fairley, Cillian Murphy, and Brendan Gleeson, will hit theaters on March 13, 2015.
