I can still remember being absolutely transfixed by WILLOW when I first watched it. Starring Warwick Davis as the titular character, the film finds the young farmer coming across Elora Danan, an infant who is prophesied to bring about the downfall of the evil Queen Bavmorda. Teaming up with the mercenary swordsman Madmartigan (Val Kilmer), Willow attempts to keep Elora from the clutches of Bavmorda's legions. It's full of magic, adventure, and is just a hell of a lot of fun.

WILLOW wasn't exactly a big success upon release, but over the years, it's become something of a cult classic and rumours of a sequel pop up every so often. Last year, WILLOW director Ron Howard announced that development was underway on a sequel series destined for the Disney+ streaming service. While speaking with Andy Cohen on his Sirius XM show, Howard said that the series is still in active development and he's very optimistic about it.

I was in a two-hour story meeting last night. The writer Jon Kasdan is leading the charge. They have a great group of writers and it's in very active development. The scripts are going great. So, they have to get through the season and the budget. And so forth, there's no green light there yet, but I'm very optimistic about it. I love [Kasdan's] take on it.

As Howard mentions, the WILLOW sequel series hasn't yet been greenlit, but I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for this one. Speaking of Howard and sequels, the director also commented on the rumours of a follow-up to SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY, and the news is disappointing for those of you wanting to see Solo back on the big-screen. "Well, there’s no sequel planned now," Howard said. "It’s amazing to be a part of a Star Wars movie that seems to be a kind of underground hit, which is not what you’d expect, but that’s been an odd, strange journey for that movie."
