Apologies if the article’s title is a little misleading. Sam Rockwell hasn’t agreed to voice Frosty the Snowman in a hilarious CG-animated romp but rather, him Toby Jones and Matthew Macfadyen have signed on to the drama FROST/NIXON, the Ron Howard-directed adaptation of the Peter Morgan play of the same name. The story is based on a series of televised interviews of Richard Nixon by David Frost in 1977 that ended in Nixon essentially admitting his guilt in the Watergate scandal. Michael Sheen and Frank Langella will be reprising their roles in the play as Frost and Nixon, respectively, in the film. Rockwell will be playing James Reston Jr., a fellow journalist who helps Frost prepare for the interview, Jones will be playing Swifty Lazar, a Hollywood power player who sets up the interview on Nixon’s behalf and Macfadyen will be playing John Burt, a reporter for a weekly British TV show. Shooting is expected to begin in late summer. Rockwell can next be seen in the indie thriller JOSHUA, alongside Brad Pitt in THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD and with Kate Beckinsale in the drama SNOW ANGELS, Jones can next be seen in the Rembrandt biopic NIGHTWATCHING and Macfadyen was most recently in the Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez double feature GRINDHOUSE.
