Rocketman trailer shows Taron Egerton as Elton John in fantastical biopic

Biographical dramas are a dime a dozen, no matter who or what their subject is. But Elton John isn’t quite like anyone else in the music industry, so he deserves a biopic that’s as unique as he is. The first teaser trailer for ROCKETMAN proves that’s exactly what we’ll get, as the film starring Taron Egerton looks like a wild, fantastical, visual dazzling ride filled with some of the icon’s best music. Be prepared to get swept off your feet, because if we glean anything from the final moments, the movie will literally sweep all of you off your feet.

Directed by Dexter Fletcher (EDDIE THE EAGLE), ROCKETMAN will focus on the musician’s early years when he cranked out some of his biggest, most recognizable hits. In the past, Egerton has said the movie would be more like a fantasy musical than a straight biopic, and we can see in the trailer that several of the scenes are staged like big musical numbers.

The teaser does an excellent job showcasing the visual flair of the movie, putting Egerton’s John – singing voice on full display – front and center. No notable sign of other stars like Jamie Bell, Bryce Dallas Howard or Richard Madden, but that’s okay. This little snippet should be all about the rock star, and we get more than enough to hold us over until the full trailer.
