RoboCop documentary wraps filming after getting Peter Weller interview

A deep-dive RoboCop documentary may be finally heading our way after securing and wrapping an interview with the original film's star, Peter Weller.

The documentary is called RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop and it will follow the story behind Paul Verhoeven's 1987 seminal action classic. The documentary will include interviews with key creatives and producers but the big GET for the doc was Peter Weller and now that the interview has wrapped, we should be getting to see the documentary soon after being in the making for nearly four years.

RoboDoc: The Creation of RoboCop comes to us courtesy of Cult Screenings in association with Red Rock Entertainment. Co-directed by Christopher Griffiths and Eastwood Allen, the documentary will feature interviews with cast and crew such as Weller, Verhoeven, Nancy Allen, Kurtwood Smith, Ray Wise, Ronny Cox, Phil Tippett, Bart Mixon, and many more. Gary Collins of Red Rock Entertainment had this to say about the documentary:

"There has never been a documentary film quite like RoboDoc and the unique access to archive, exclusive interviews, attention to detail and a stunning visual ethos make this film a truly unique production and one that we are very proud to be a part of."

RoboCop is set in a crime-ridden Detroit, Michigan, in the near future and it centers on police officer Alex Murphy (Weller) who is murdered by a gang of criminals and subsequently revived by the megacorporation Omni Consumer Products as a cyborg law enforcer named RoboCop. Unaware of his former life, RoboCop executes a brutal campaign against crime while coming to terms with the lingering fragments of his humanity. The film was well-received by critics and moviegoers, currently holding a 90% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and ultimately grossing $53.4 million on a $13.7 million budget. The success of RoboCop led to a franchise comprising of sequels RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3, children's animated series, multiple live-action television shows, video games, comic books, toys, clothing, and a reboot that was released in 2014.

Will YOU be watching the RoboCop documentary when it finally arrives?
