Ridley Scott’s ROBIN HOOD has finally found its Merry Men. Already boasting the epic star power of Russell Crowe as Robin Hood and Cate Blanchett as Maid Marian, Scott cast actors who will be unfamiliar to mainstream audiences as his Merry Men–thereby allowing his two stars to shine.
“ER’s” Scott Grimes will play the skilled swordsman Will Scarlet; “Lost’s” Kevin Durand will play Robin Hood’s right hand man Little John, and the lead singer of Great Big Sea (wtf!?!?) Alan Doyle will play Alan A Dayle, a roving minstrel who needed help when his love was being forced to marry another man. For those of you unfamiliar with Great Big Sea, they’re a popular Canadian band from The Maritimes, known for their sea shanties and Celtic folk tunes. Aside from the similarity in his own name to his character’s name, I can only assume that Doylewas cast to contribute some musical numbers to the film. I personally am not a fan of his band so this news kind of bums me out, but Ridley’s a legendary director for a reason, and I can do nothing but trust the man. Don’t betray my trust Ridley, or I shall be forced to sleep with your wife.
