Wow. Remember when Joe Hill’s sweet horror comic LOCKE AND KEY was this close to becoming a TV show? Well here’s one better…the project may be adapted by Universal as a movie trilogy!
According to Latino Review, uber-producers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman have coaxed Universal into possibly, possibly converting the comic into a trio of films. As alluded to, Mark Romanek directed the pilot for the TV series adaptation a couple years ago, but Fox ultimately scrapped the show in favor of “American Horror Story.” Seems to have worked well for them.
Even so, Orci & Kurtzman were among original producers of the TV adaptation, and given their successful track record with Universal, it may be hard for the studio to deny these dudes. Besides, I think we’d all rather see LOCKE AND KEY as a series of movies rather than a multi-season show. Would you agree?
Recall the gist: Acclaimed suspense novelist and New York Times best-selling author Joe Hill (Heart-Shaped Box) creates an all-new story of dark fantasy and wonder: Locke & Key. Written by Hill and featuring astounding artwork from Gabriel Rodriguez (Clive Barker’s The Great and Secret Show, Beowulf), Locke & Key tells of Keyhouse, an unlikely New England mansion, with fantastic doors that transform all who dare to walk through them…. and home to a hate-filled and relentless creature that will not rest until it forces open the most terrible door of them all…
