In an age of franchises, sequels and reboots, Christopher Nolan is one of the few directors who can deliver an original work to blockbuster-event status – seemingly on his name alone. That means it should come as no surprise that all eyes are glued to anything relating to his new mystery project, which we only know is some sort of “action blockbuster,” starring John David Washington (BLACKKKLANSMAN), Elizabeth Debicki (WIDOWS) and Robert Pattinson (GOOD TIME, HIGH LIFE). We may not know anything about the movie, but Pattinson has made us even more excited about it by saying that the script for the movie is, simply, “unreal.”

The actor who has made a transition from big blockbusters like HARRY POTTER and the TWILIGHT franchise to smaller, acclaimed indie movies like THE LOST CITY OF Z and the newly-released HIGH LIFE sat down with USA Today to talk about the latter and was asked a bit about the Nolan project. While he said he was “sworn to secrecy,” he made it sound like we can expect the same brilliance from the always reliable filmmaker.
"I got locked in a room to read the script – I don't have it myself. I've been a little wary of doing big movies for years and years, but there's just something about Chris Nolan's stuff. He seems like the only director now who can do what is essentially a very personal, independent movie that has huge scale. I read the script and it's unreal."

That doesn’t quite broaden the picture we have of the upcoming movie, but it does hint that something amazing is on the docket. Between franchise movies like THE DARK KNIGHT and original works like INCEPTION and INTERSTELLAR Nolan always manages to find new ways to wow audiences, and it sounds like his new film will do just that as well. Set for next year, perhaps we won’t have to wait too long for some actual details about the movie. A title would even be a nice tidbit, right?
Pattinson stars in the new space drama HIGH LIFE, which is in theaters now.
