As far as actor Robert Pattinson goes I think about it like this: Sure I've never seen any of the TWILIGHT movies and it is still easy to poke fun at the man, but I don't do it. Why? Because Pattinson has been in at least two David Cronenberg films (MAPS TO THE STARS and COSMOPOLIS) and so I figure, "Good enough for Cronenberg, good enough for me."
And speaking of respectable genre-directors loving them some Robert Pattinson, today we have news that Robert Eggers (THE WITCH) has just cast Pattinson in his upcoming horror flick THE LIGHTHOUSE alongside Willem Dafoe.
The new horror flick, which is being called "a fantasy horror story set in the world of old sea-faring myths" will be hitting us via RT Features and A24, who worked with Eggers on his breakout hit. A24 acquired worldwide rights and will distribute the film in the U.S. while New Regency (THE REVENANT) has joined the project as a co-financier.
We'll let you know once we hear more on Robert Egger's new film but until then make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think of the film thus far in the comments below or on social media.
Robert Eggers on THE LIGHTHOUSE:
I am extremely happy to be working with RT, A24, and Parts & Labor again. Along with New Regency, they are providing me and my collaborators with the support and freedom to make this film the way it needs to be made. It’s a privilege.
The film is directed by Robert Eggers from a script by Eggers and Max Eggers. Rodrigo Teixeira and Lourenço Sant’ Anna are producing alongside Jay Van Hoy and Youree Henley and the film stars Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe.
THE LIGHTHOUSE begins shooting this spring.
