Robert Downey Jr. unfollows his MCU co-stars on Instagram; Marvel fans shook

Robert Downey Jr., MCU, Avengers, Instagram

Talk about something I would never notice but very astute Marvel fans were quick to notice that Robert Downey Jr. unfollowed all of his former MCU co-stars on Instagram and fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are shook by the revelation.

Downey Jr. played Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, in the MCU since 2008's Iron Man and he ended his MCU tenure after 2019's Avengers: Endgame. Some fans had been hoping that somehow and someway the actor would come back to the MCU but no longer following his verified co-stars on his verified Instagram account has given some of them a finality they weren't ready for. You can check out some of their reactions!

There are actually a lot of similar reactions to this on social media but I doubt the cast is taking any of this personally. Downey Jr. has more than 50 million followers on Instagram and is now only following 43 people and none of them are actors. It would appear that he's now using the account to promote things he's passionate about, including his FootPrint Coalition. The group is described as a "coalition of investors, donors, and storytellers committed to scaling technologies to restore our planet." It's very possible that Downey Jr. and his management are trying to downsize and curate his social media now that he isn't tied to the MCU world anymore. This is certainly nothing personal.

MCU fans I'm also sure he still has their personal cell phone numbers and there is probably a fun Marvel group chat that we know nothing about. Also, if social media is really all that important, he is still following his fellow cast members on his Twitter page so maybe you'll see some fun Marvel exchanges on that platform now.
