People say that all great things must come to an end, and so with the arrival of Marvel's AVENGERS: ENDGAME, so too will Robert Downey Jr.'s iconic turn as Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man, come to pass. After helping to launch Marvel's cinematic universe by starring in director Jon Favreau's IRON MAN (2008), and riding Marvel's wave of success for the past eleven years, it's with a heavy heart that we share the following video with you all.
After AVENGERS: ENDGAME directors Joe and Anthony Russo lifted the ban on spoilers for their epic Infinity Saga, stars of the MCU's big finale have been sharing private videos taken with their smart phones as a way of giving fans a peek behind the studio's most ambitious film. Today RDJ has shared yet another video clip from his private collection, which features the genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist addressing the Endgame cast and crew, thanking them for their tireless efforts to assure that Tony's last adventure would arrive with a bang. Emotions are high in the video to be certain, as Downey Jr. doles out hugs, farewells, and well wishes to the talented men and women who helped make his time on the project so special.
It goes without saying that Downey's contributions to the MCU will go down in Hollywood history as the stuff of legend. On more than one occasion, Downey has expressed that he'd never imagined that participating in IRON MAN would not only resurrect his career, but that it would also place him at the center of a family filled with such talented, warm, and caring individuals. I for one salute RDJ, the man that started it all when he looked right into Favreau's camera and announced to the world, "I am Iron Man."
