Last November, it was announced that Swamp Thing's Crystal Reed was taking the lead role in director Emerson Moore's thriller ESCAPE THE FIELD. Ten months later, ESCAPE THE FIELD is currently in production in Toronto – but Reed is not in the cast. By the time filming started, Reed had to pass her role over to The Umbrella Academy's Jordan Claire Robbins.
Robbins is joined in the cast by Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy) and Shane West (Gotham).
Those are the officially announced cast members, but a post on Robbins' Instagram appears to reveal that Tahirah Sharif, who will soon be seen in the Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor, is also going to have to ESCAPE THE FIELD.
Scripted by Moore, Sean M. Wathen, and J.D. Dobkin, the film will follow
six strangers who wake up disoriented and trapped in an endless cornfield only to discover that something mysterious is hunting them. Armed only with seemingly random items, ranging from a compass to a canteen and a revolver with a single bullet, they must work together to escape the field or die.
So there are six people at the center of the film, but we only know who's playing three or four of them, so there should be another casting announcement coming soon.
DDI's Jason Moring and Michael Philip are producing ESCAPE THE FIELD under their Cr8iv DNA banner, alongside Moore's Anacapa Pictures. DDI is presenting the project to potential distributions at the virtual TIFF.
