Lionsgate Films has unveiled a teaser trailer for BOMBSHELL, a film formally known as an UNTITLED CHARLES RANDOLPH PROJECT. Directed by Jay Roach (MEET THE PARENTS, AUSTIN POWERS INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY) and from the pen of Charles Randolph (LOVE & OTHER DRUGS, THE BIG SHORT), BOMBSHELL centers around the stories of various female Fox News personnel and their altercations with founder Roger Ailes.
As IMDB describes it:
BOMBSHELL tells the tale of a few women who decide to take on Fox News boss Roger Ailes and the toxic male culture he presided over at the network.
The upcoming drama which is bound to press more than a few buttons with the public boasts an all-star cast with Margot Robbie, Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman leading the charge. Starring alongside the aforementioned ladies of the silver screen in this bound-to-be decisive feature are Alice Eve, Alanna Ubach, Kate McKinnon, Stephen Root, Connie Britton, Allison Janney, Brigette Lundy-Paine, Nazanin Boniadi, Madeline Zima, Ashley Greene, Elisabeth Rohm, and John Lithgow as Roger Ailes. Margot stars as Kayla Pospisil, while Theron plays Megyn Kelly and Kidman assumes the role of Gretchen Carlson.
Boy oh boy, you could cut the tension in this trailer with the dullest of knives. I hate to imagine what the women working at Fox endured under Ailes' tenure, and I would think that this film aims to shed a grim light on some very deplorable practices. Acts related to misogyny and favoritism have been a constant stain on most workplaces for as long as anyone can recall, and with BOMBSHELL planning to make some noise in theaters later this year, one would hope that enlightenment and understanding will become a byproduct of this tension-filled film.
BOMBSHELL is set to go off in theaters on December 20.
