Rob Zombie wants to make House of 1000 Corpses: The Broadway Musical

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Last night, I was looking through Hulu and found Larry King's interview series LARRY KING NOW. I searched through the countless episodes and was delighted to find one featuring Rob Zombie. I threw it on ASAP and it was loaded with fun bits and pieces. But the one that stuck out to me the most was when Zombie says that he'd like to turn his first film HOUSE OF 1,000 CORPSES into a Broadway musical. Not kidding. In the interview, King starts asking some viewer questions and one asks Zombie "What do you really want to do in life that you have not had the chance to?"

To which Zombie replied:

As crazy as it sounds, I feel that my first film House of 1000 Corpses – which is kinda campy in a weird way, which is why at the time I wasn't that thrilled with it – I think would make a great Broadway musical.  Because it's very much – when you go to Broadway now it's like Spider-Man, it's The Addams Family, it's Spamalot, you know? So that movie would translate well, I think because it's just ridiculous.

Now truth be told this interview is from way back in 2013, but still. The idea of Zombie heading to Broadway with a HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES musical sounds just about like the coolest musical of all-time. Please, someone, take note of this and get to work with Zombie and his crew to make sure this is brought to the stage. Until then though, I guess we'll have to, you know, make do with Zombie's third Firefly film THREE FROM HELL this year.

Lucky for you guys, this bit of the interview has it's own clip over on YouTube and so you can check it out for yourself HERE. The part about HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES: THE MUSICAL starts at 2:25. How badly would YOU like to see HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES: THE BROADWAY MUSICAL?

HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES synopsis:

An empty fuel tank and a flat tire lead two couples down a terror-riddled road to the House of 1000 Corpses. "House of 1000 Corpses" is at its core a story of family – a cast of twisted individuals who, with each slash of a throat or stab thru the chest, add bodies to their sick human menagerie.

Zombie wrote and directed HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES and the film starred Sid Haig, Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon, Karen Black, Rainn Wilson, Walton Goggins, and Tom Towles. If for some reason you don't already own the movie on Blu-ray, you can go ahead and snag a copy over on Amazon RIGHT HERE.

Looks like a musical to me.
