So I’ve been keeping up with Rob Cohen’s blog for the production of THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR. I’m a huge fan of the first film but was disappointed with it’s less than stellar sequel and prequel. I’m only hoping that this film can bring back the sensation I had when I saw the first film but it’s all to early to tell.
Mr. Cohen himself has been kind enough to update his blog rather regularly considering that he’s shooting a huge feature. As of sunday, October 21st, Rob posted from China, where production has moved from Montreal.
The dawn is breaking over the Great Wall, the original wall made of tamped earth that towers across the horizon. The sun is real; I had the wall built. Soon Jet Li, the Dragon Emperor himself, will mount a 50-foot high colossus of himself to wake his 5,000 Terracotta Warriors from 20 centuries underground and lead them in one final battle against the O’Connell’s and the Mystical Forces of his ancient enemy played by Russell Wong who has been raised by Michelle Yeoh. Armies will clash. Good vs. Evil. The living vs. the Undead.
In other words, it’s Monday on “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.”
Rob Cohen talks about the experience moving the production to china and the great feeling he’s had working with such great people. It’s a lengthy piece but really get’s inside the enthusiasm that Rob Cohen has for the project. Maybe this passion will show through into the film! He does promise that a new video will be up shortly, so keep checking! To read the post, click here.
