Focus Features is set to release a documentary about the uncommon life of the late storyteller, explorer, and chef, Anthony Bourdain. The film will have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday, June 11, 2021.
Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain is directed by Academy Award winner Morgan Neville (20 Feet from Stardom, Won't You Be My Neighbor?). Focus Features will first release the documentary exclusively in theaters on Friday, July 16, 2021, before the film premieres on television on CNN and streams via HBO Max. CNN Films and HBO Max executive produced the film. Neville and Caitrin Rogers are producers of the film under Neville’s Tremolo Productions.
Born in New York City in June of 1956, Bourdain grew to become an icon of entertainment as an author, journalist, travel documentarian, and explorer of culinary delights and cultures from around the globe. He hosted several world travel shows throughout his inspiring career, including A Cook's Tour for the Food Network, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations (2005-2012), and The Layover (2011-2013). Each offered their own insight into the world around us, as well as the people and meals that make it special.
Sadly, Bourdain passed away from suicide in June of 2018. He leaves behind a legacy that is unmatched in certain circles, and Roadrunner hopes to share aspects of his interesting life with everyone willing to go along for the wild ride.
