The premiere of the feature film adaptation of R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" series is just a week away, and while a sequel to the film is already being planned, GOOSEBUMPS may not be the only R.L. Stine project to make it to the big screen. The Wrap reports that a film based upon the author's "Fear Street" series is also being developed by 20th Century Fox and Chernin Entertainment.
The author didn't offer up any information to The Wrap, other than confirming that something was in the works:
I’m not allowed to say, but yeah, there’s something happening. I’m usually a loose cannon but they really didn’t want me to talk about it,
The "Fear Street" novels take place in the fictional city of Shadyside and tend to skew a little older than the "Goosebumps" series. While paranormal elements are still present, many of the "Fear Street" tales are straight murder mysteries which feature more blood and gore than you'd find in "Goosebumps". Like many of you, there was a period in my life where I devoured as many of the "Goosebumps" books as I could, but "Fear Street" seems to have completely passed me by. Those of you who have more of a familiarity with the series than I do, which "Fear Street" novel would make the best feature film?
GOOSEBUMPS will scream (sorry) into theaters on October 16, 2015, but you can read our own Jimmy O's review right here!
