Yet again here on a Friday night, we have some sad news for you guys. Looks like ALIEN star Harry Dean Stanton has passed away at the age of 91.
Most recently Stanton was part of David Lynch and Showtime's masterpiece TWIN PEAKS revival, reprising his role as Carl Rodd the trailer park curmudgeon from TWIN PEAKS: FIRE WALK WITH ME.
Other classic Harry Dean Stanton roles include ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, CHRISTINE, WILD AT HEART, REPO MAN, THE GREEN MILE, and RED DAWN among many others.
Stanton was born in West Irvine, Ky. and served in the Navy during WWII. One of his earliest roles was being directed by the master himself Alfred Hitchcock in an episode of SUSPICION.
Stanton was also the leader of the band Harry Dean Stanton and the Repo Men and remained good friends with the legendary Hunter S. Thompson up until his passing, with Stanton even singing at the writer's funeral and providing a cameo in the adaptation of his book FEAR & LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS.
Living to the age of 91 and still turning in a rock-solid performance in TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN, Stanton seemed to live a full life. Very sad to hear of the man's passing and we here at AITH will be throwing on a Harry Dean Stanton double feature of REPO MAN and ALIEN this very night.
