The 13-years-later sequel RINGS is receiving the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY treatment. And I don't mean it's going found footage. No, it's getting another damn release date change. It was already pushed to April 1st back in October, but now it's being slammed further back down the calendar, getting an October 28th release.
Obviously, this isn't great news. Movies that tap dance around the schedule like this don't tend to be works of art. However, RINGS just landed a pretty primo Halloween slot, so that shows some amount of confidence in the project. If it really sucked, it would just be buried in January like everything else. Really, only time will tell.
Written by Akiva Goldsman, David Loucka, and Jacob Aaron Estes, RINGS was directed by F. Javier Gutierrez and executive produced by Guillermo del Toro. All we know is that it stars Matilda Lutz, Alex Roe as an unlucky fellow who watches the cursed video tape at the center of the franchise, Aimee Teegarden, and Johnny Galecki as a pleasure-seeking professor.
