Yesterday, we learned from Alcon Entertainment producer Andrew Kosove that the rumors of Harrison Ford being involved with the new BLADE RUNNER were completely false. Now Ridley Scott is confirming this, but not going as far to count the actor out.
In this interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director gives us what he can on the BLADE RUNNER sequel/prequel and hopes for PROMETHEUS 2. Really loving his energy and attitude on the return to sci-fi.
Check it out below.
EW: What can you tell me about the Blade Runner project?
RIDLEY SCOTT: We’re still in discussions about whether it should be a prequel or sequel. It’s an interesting conversation. I’m meeting with writers and I’ve also gone back to [original Blade Runner screenwriter] Hampton Fancher and he still speaks the speak. He’s right there. I spoke with him this week. But we don’t even have a script yet.
EW: Did you hear about the rumors online that you were supposedly in talks with Harrison Ford to be in it?
RS: No. Don’t know yet. Don’t know yet.
EW: But you wouldn’t rule it out?
RS: Absolutely not. But I’m not sure that that’s going to be a story point, so I don’t know. But if it were, nothing would please me more. Honestly.
EW: But it sounds like you don’t even know yet if there would be a Rick Deckard character?
RS: No. I don’t know.
EW: So, right now, all there is is the concept of doing a Blade Runner film? Nothing more than that?
RS: Right. I just thought Prometheus was so enjoyable — returning to the world of science fiction was so fun — that I wanted to [go back to Blade Runner, too]. I’m also thinking about what the hell I might do for a Prometheus 2.
EW: Do you think there will be one?
RS: [Knocks the wood coffee table and grins]
