Ridley Scott gives updates on the Blade Runner and Prometheus sequels

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

We’ve been waiting a long time for a sequel to the cult classic sci-fi tale BLADE RUNNER, and over the past couple of years we have gotten closer to seeing it happen than ever before. Even Harrison Ford is excited to jump back into the skin of Deckard, having been approached about the sequel last year. More recently, Ford admitted that he is “quite curious and excited about seeing a new script for Blade Runner…” and now it seems that the script is ready.

Speaking with EW about the status of BLADE RUNNER 2, director Ridley Scott shared…

“Blade Runner 2 is written and is damn good. Of course it involves Harrison, who is a survivor after all these years – despite the accident. So yes, that will happen.”

Scott went on to confirm that the plan is for him to direct the film, and that he hopes to begin work on the film as soon as he is done with his next project, the Matt Damon-starring THE MARTIAN. I’m praying to the Movie Gods that it happens as planned. I’m stoked about a new BLADE RUNNER film.

Scott also spoke about the status of the sequel to PROMETHEUS. While PROMETHEUS had its problems and fans were pretty much divided on it, I really dug it and can’t wait to see another film. Scott shared that the script for the sequel is written, but when pressed on whether he would direct PROMETHEUS 2 he stated…

“That’s the problem. I’ve got a lot of ducks in a row. But they’re all written.”

I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see Scott hand over the directorial reins to someone else for PROMETHEUS 2, although to be honest I’d rather see him take on the directing duties. Either way, I’m stoked for the sequel.

So which film are you most looking forward to seeing: BLADE RUNNER 2 or PROMETHEUS 2? Hit us with your thoughts below.
