Earlier this month we found out that production on the PROMETHEUS sequel was hoping to get underway in January 2016, which would seem to indicate that it would be Ridley Scott's next film after THE MARTIAN. While speaking with Empire during THE MARTIAN press-tour, Scott confirmed that PROMETHEUS 2 would indeed be his next movie; in fact, he's already begun scouting for locations.
They faced another challenge when the film’s release date was brought forward. But according to Damon, the typically fast-working Scott didn’t worry. “Ridley was done with the movie about two weeks after we shot!” he smiles. “I was already on to my next movie!” adds Scott. “I was starting to look for locations for my next movie, which is Prometheus 2.”
Unfortunately PROMETHEUS couldn't hope to live up to its amazing marketing, but I was still able to enjoy the film for what it was and very much hoped that we wouldn't be left hanging. Both Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender will be returning for the sequel which should find Shaw (Noomi Rapace) and David's head (Michael Fassbender) on a voyage to discover the home world of the Engineers encountered in PROMETHEUS. As for the potential inclusion of the Alien we've grown to love, Scott has previously said that he'd like to introduce a "fresher form of alien" in the sequel. As to what he means by that, I've no idea but I'm very excited to find out.
What would you most like to see in the PROMETHEUS sequel?
